As we approach our 40th year in the business of creating high quality products, we take a moment to reflect upon our history.
Founded in 1980 by Dennis Middlehurst, Hi-Quality Carbide has always been rooted in family values and a drive to exceed expectations. In 1997, Tim and Wendy Middlehurst purchased the business with a vision to build upon Hi-Quality’s strong reputation to become a leader in the tool and die industry. To facilitate this dream, they realized how imperative it is to continuously invest in state-of the art machinery.
In 2001, the first CNC controlled machine was installed. Between 2001 and 2005, production, machinery, and staffing continued to increase to ensure the highest quality finished product and reliable delivery dates. In 2006, Tim and Wendy brought their business to Orangeville, Ontario, through the purchase of a new and larger facility; with room to grow.
After six more years of growth & development, including a new Laser Etching part identification process and Controlled Goods Program approval, Hi-Quality Carbide was ready to evolve. 2012 & 2013 were quite the memorable years as our 4,400 square foot building expansion, plus office renovation, was completed. Over the next few years, Hi-Q continued to invest in top-of-the-line equipment to ensure that we would be your one-stop-shop for all your tooling needs.
After 35 years in business, Hi-Quality Carbide launched our computerized shop software system. This system allows our highly skilled tool-makers to easily track, manage and ensure quality tool production.
We reflect on our past to shape our future; and our goal here remains the same. Hi-Quality Carbide will continue to honor our history, invest in our company and strive for success, each and every day.
